Michael Phelps and Saturn

Anytime you have to issue a public ‘mea culpa’, Saturn is involved. Saturn keeps track of all the earthbound things we do and asks for a reckoning when:

  • a) Saturn progresses to make a connection with another planet in the chart or
  • b) another planet makes a connection to our Saturn


Saturn is known as time-keeper planet or planet of karma. It has no imagination and no desire to evade or dissemble. It plods along, ticking through its orbit in 27 to 30 years accumulating experience. It provides the discipline for long hours of hard work and the reward for that work at the appropriate time.

Saturn is structure and, for the first cycle of 27 – 30 year cycle, this structure is what comes from the parents and the environment. Phelp’s Saturn is still in that first cycle and, with Saturn sextile birth Saturn, things are coming together according to the pattern he absorbed as a child.

The problem for Phelps is while things are coming together nicely, they are also falling apart. Neptune is square his birth Saturn this year. Neptune confuses and dissolves, often through escapist behavior or mood altering substances — or through creative or spiritual expression. It is confusing for the year or so that it is in effect because we rely on structure and think it’s necessary. In the period of Neptune square Saturn, confusion eventually evolves into new structure that comes more from true inner needs instead of those inherited from others.

A NEW DIRECTION

There are two major transits in Phelps chart this year that show that this is a very important wake-up year.

  • Phelp’s birth Sun has progressed to 1 Leo, the same degree as his Mercury (how he thinks and communicates) Sun, therefore the need to express himself becomes part of his personality, possibly in a way he has never before experienced.
  • Pluto Conjunct Neptune – Everyone alive at this time experiences this transit at some point. It is an awakening, a time when there is a connection between the conscious mind and the superconscious. Some experience this as frightening as they have weird dreams and experience strange things. Others love it as they get to experience things they have only read about in the past: psychic connection, prophetic dreams, religious or spiritual awakening. It is a very intense couple of years with the end result of becoming far more aware of who you really are and what you are doing here.

This may well be the year when Michael Phelps realizes that he has achieved what he set out to do, and he finds a new goal. Trying to continue on the same path will be draining and depressing and just not work. It’s done.

She takes only the number from your address (no street name) and assigns it to the 360 degree zodiac. If you live in an apartment, only the apartment number is used, not the street number.

    If you are a numerologist, you will find using the zodiac degree a very interesting addition to your number meanings.

    My address number corresponds with 14 Pisces. Dayel describes this as:

    A Pisces address is a place for rest or escape, relaxation, regeneration, creative expression, spiritual pursuits or solitude.

    At this address, I have cared for elderly parents, started a small theatre and this blog, studied various religious texts, delved into spirituality, and found a great deal of solitude. It’s much more relaxing than my previous address (perhaps too much so) and has recently been certified as a wildlife habitat.
